This two-day online course offers a gentle introduction to R that covers all the essentials parts of starting a data analysis project: data import, data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and visualization.
What This Course is About?
Would you like to switch to a statistical software that is both powerful and free of charge? Do you want to attend a course at a method school that requires basic R knowledge? Does everyone around you use R and you want to use it too? Are you a qualitative researcher who occasionally needs to produce some basic stats or graphs beyond what Excel can do? If so, then this two-day online course is right for you. This gentle introduction to R that covers all the essentials parts of starting a data analysis project: data import, data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and visualization. There’s a heavy emphasis on practical knowledge that one can put to use right after the course which is also supported by hands-on excercises during the course.
Learning Goals
After this course you’ll be able to
- Load data into R (no matter if it’s from SPSS, Stata, Excel, or plain old csv)
- Prepare data for analysis
- Visualize data with ggplot2
- Use R to explore data with summary statistics and visualizations
Who is Your Instructor?
Akos Mate is a research fellow at the Center for Social Sciences, Budapest and a consultant for the International Monetary Fund. He specializes in quantitative methods, particularly on text analysis using machine learning techniques using R and Python. He’s been teaching R and quantitative methods at international methods schools and at the Central European University.
